Job Purpose:

The Web Developer is responsible for overall development and implementation of new software enhancements, as well as overall responsiblity for maintaining the day to day front-end operations of a high traffic site.  This person will also be responsible for assisting in identifying, implementing and maintaining new technologies to provide needed solutions and upgrades in functionality.

Job Responsibilities:

• Work closely with the IT Director to identify and investigate new technologies


• Responsible for all software development


• Collaborate and interface with Infrastructure Specialist and Contractors to implement software


• Collaborate with editorial team to identify needed software enhancements and changes in site functionality


• Implement technology roadmap and strategy


• Lead offshore contractors


• Enforce agile software methodology and regular new feature deployment schedule

Qualifications

            Basic Qualifications:

• Minimum 1 years managing web-based software projects


• Minimum 2 years developing web-based software


• Eligibility Requirements:


• Must be willing to work in NY,NY


• Must be willing to take drug test and submit to a background investigation


• Must have unrestricted work authorization to work in United States

Desired

            Proven knowledge of and experience of software development, including:

• Industry Best Practices such as Agile Development Methodology, Test Driven Development


• HTML/CSS/JavaScript w/ concentration in AJAX (prototype.js)


• Dynamic Languages: PHP/Python/Ruby


• Application Frameworks: Ruby on Rails


• Open Source CMS systems such as Movable Type, Drupal, and Joomba


• MySQL, SQL Server


• Linux/Unix Environment
